Create Regional / City / Community Calendars

you shall not ... walk alone

You may already have read about our recent chance meeting with a continental Tanguera who spontenously kickstarted our greatest adventure to date. If you have not done so we advise you to read all about it in our [ Join our passionate team ] page accessible via the   mundo ▾  drop down menu.

Events are great & we love them but sometimes we just want to visit a local Milonga e.g. when travelling for work/pleasure

Not only did we build a new website for our continental friend and all her "tomads" we embarked on a our greatest mission yet by offering to create Regional / City / Community calendars based on our successful [ London Tango Calendar ] implementation for anyone who wants one for their own "barrio".

[ Getting started ]

Q: So how do I get started and request a new calendar for my city or region?

A: Well basically just ask. Drop us a line to start and as mentioned above go read the [ Join our passionate team ] page, if you have not done so already, as it contains important info about becoming a volunteer and acting in a representative capacity for your region, which is the minimum requirment for us to kickstart a calendar project.

We require at least two people to satisfy contingency but another person can possible join at a later stage.

Q: Wait a minute. I do not have the time to get involved in an representative capacity.

A: Well neither do we, which is why we have worked so hard to quite literally get our calendars to run themselves. All that is required is a watchful eye and grant permission to other local contributors from time to time.

After a while it just becomes about welcoming additional "contributors" and letting everyone share events with a few simple clicks of a mouse button.

By the way once there are a few of you looking after the Calendar everything will become a breeze and usually there are only a limited amount of individuals who require access even in the bigger cities / regions.

And we do not need to be reminded about not having enough time. All of us are pretty much at full capacity every day of our lives and yet we still somehow find the time not only to manage our own calendar, but create a global events calendar for our continental friends and offer to do the same for any Tango community who wants to join our "Community Source" project. How about that for not have any time to spare?

All right we hope the requirements to kickstart a new Calendar project are clear, but we will emphasise them again just in case.

All it takes to kickstart a regional Calendar project is volunteer to keep an eye out and act as a goto for other community members who want to start contributing.

1) A couple or more local community members (can join at a later date) willing to be part of our growing community team and act in an representative capacity (minimal administration) for your region.

2) A willingness to work with us and support our "Community Source" project, even if just in spirit.

Does that sound like too much to ask? We did not think so either

NB Depending on the demand for regional calendars and the resources & volunteers available to us at any time will determine how long it will take us to set up your [Region/City/Community] calendar.

Update: Due to ongoing website improvements & enhancements at present only major Tango Capitals/Regions are currently being considered & only if sufficient local supported is pledged!

It should not take long to add calendars and provide the regional representatives permission etc, but as far as page content e.g. "regional" information is concerned that may take a little longer & will require your participation.

Some of you may even be keen on translating your site into your local language, but all this takes time & efffort and any future changes will need to be factored in. Given than modern web browsers like Chrome nowadays have native language support / translation capabilities built-in we no longer consider language support a priority. Yes the translation may not be perfect, but given the limited site content we feel it is quite adequate.

[ What next ]

The beauty is that we do not have to aim big to start, a bit like our own website story, set it up and let it grow steadily and ultimately it will bloom into something beautiful πŸŒΈ

And before you know it you will start to generate reasonable amount of interest and growing vistor numbers. Our [ London Tango Calendar ] alone generates in excess of 5000+ visitors every month from Tangoer@s across Europe and beyond and many of them are likely to be curious about other Tango communities, especially ones linked to our global community and accessible from any of our calendar / event websites.

Our recent experience with turning the legacy Calendar into an "organic" (yes we too use this word occasionally) online resource that pretty much looks after itself is a testiment to our achievement, but naturally it also took us a while as well. At first you should not expect activity to be overwhelming, but over time it can become as vivid as the community wishes. From our own experience we would expect it to takes a little while to grow, some patience in the beginning and before you know it things tend to progress.

The best bit about our Community Calendar is that once they are up and running they hardly take any effort to run. After a few more contributors join and start to actively post public Facebook events it will all start to fall in place.

So what are you waiting for? Come join our gang and let us create utterly awesome things together as a community of friends

create beauty ♡
